Union-Bashing

More importantly, unions represent an intermediary between the corporate world dominated by neo-cons and the common worker. The union prevents the all vaunted "big business" from exploiting workers for their own gains (i.e., to make creeps like Kenneth Lay and Andrew Fastow billionaires). They also represent a level of "regulation" that holds businesses to higher standards than greedy fatcat Republicans care to meet. They'd rather have us revert to the days of the Triangle Shirt Waist Factory so they can rake in a few more bucks than give workers a voice, a political organ and a means of rising to power, and indeed, wealth. The "ownership society" envisioned by the Bush regime is fine for middle Americans opening sporting goods stores and buying property, but heaven forbid they get the idea that they can "buy into" the ruling elite through the same means of empowerment. Hence, the conservative agenda must portray the union as anathema to "ownership."
