Hi archiew

Yeah, I read On Writing, a brilliant and inspirational book I thought, but I do know what you mean about his feelings towards the driver.  Understandable in the circumstances though...

One of the greatest things I took from that book was that King said if you want to be a successful writer it's important to write at least 1000 words a day towards your project.  If you're suffering writer's block or don't have a project on the go, it's still important to write 1000 words on anything, even if it's just about your day, in order to keep practicing your craft and then when you get a project going or get over your 'block' you'll be used to writing so many words still.

Hence why I write on Blogit so often!

Wow. I had not heard that. I hope it is nothing more than rumour. I also like Kings shorter stories and would like to see him do more of those.

Even if he does go blind, with modern technology and a good secretary, he could continue writing. BTW, did you read "About Writing"? In that book you can feel the bitterness toward the driver of the van that hit him. I really don't blame him, but such feelings often do us more harm than those toward whom they are directed.

Several people have told me to try and get into the Dark Tower series,

but despite my best efforts I just can't.  If I'm going to get into the series I have to start from the beginning and I've tried reading the first three Dark Tower novels, several times, all to no avail.

I have heard that King has upped his writing production in an attempt to get books written as apparently he is going blind and the accident a couple of years ago has sped up the deterioration of his eyesight.  I hope that it's just hearsay but I've read several reports on the same thing.

I just hope that he does a couple of non-DT series novels before he quits.

True what you wrote in your comment, but you may be missing some really good stories, which you wouldn't if you just ignored the comments in them about Dark Tower stuff! I am not sure if he is working on something else. I do remember a statement attributed to him that this series is his "grand finale." I certainly hope not.

Is King writing anything else at the moment?
Or is he just wrapped up in the Dark Tower series? I love King's work, but that series has just never quite appealled to me so I've never got into it. The trouble is, his last few books all seem to revolve around the Dark Tower and nothing else, so I haven't bothered buying them.
