It's shocking, isn't it? Appalling. When I lived in the Bible Belt (the buckle, actually), I constantly heard the phrase, "It's God's Will." That was when someone died or suffered some horrific misfortune. Did they ever think that maybe it just happened? When people seemed to recover from an illness, it was God's hand that healed them. When they died, it was God's will. Personally, I don't want to be a puppet. I do believe in God, but I also believe in free well, and sh*t happening. Thanks for an insightful piece. Great writing.
