if we didn't want validation of some sorts
we would not post, blog in any forum whatsoever, Just write in a book and lock it away for noone to see. Yes we want others to read our work and to comment, enjoy and yes, buy it. Love, Vib

Outlaw...
indeed it is a great feeling to know that other people appreciate what you write. Tbere's nothing quite like it. I can tell myself I'm good, but if no-one enjoys my work, then to me it's all in vain.

Yes.
I agree with you. When I first started reading this post, I'm like "WHAT!" Validation comes from within? I was getting ready to close and move on to the next post, but then I was curious about what you had to say. WOW! Now I understand your point. Validation from others is very good. It doesn't have to come from within. Eg. I've written a poem on Poetry.com as a Contest Entry. It was nothing really, just a few words that came to me, and they wrote me a letter that I was selected as (one of) out of thousands to be in their Book of Best Poetry 2004. Now, listen to this. I wrote a poem that took me three days, and I thought it was great, but they said they are sorry that it wasn't selected. Beats me. Anyway what is my point? Well, sometimes we validate our work and others don't think it's that great. Great post.

Don't you feel better that I took the time to read you blog and actually liked it enough to leave you a litte comment. Writing is meant to be read. Not just by the writer, but for others too.
