Schatz...
...if a man wants a motorcycle, then a man must have a motorcycle!

Sounds like he's a lucky fella!

...I can relate to the oil scenario, though I've never heard that expression. I like it better than the bed of roses deal. It works better. No thorns!

Thanks for stopping by.

Tamara...
...that is an optimistic way of looking at the mid-life thing, and i'm sure there are cases that pan out like that. However, many of the ones I've been witness too have been true crisises (?) and appear to be based on regret that so much time has gone by, and so little has been achieved.

I'm happy not to be in that position, though I'll admit there's been a bit of stock-taking of late!

Thanks for reading!

Odysseus...
...I can definitely relate to that!

Happily, I still own a car. I just drive the Saab my new bride owns, and a stupidly fast motorcycle that I own.

Thanks for reading.

My hubby is 40, but thank the Gods, he has a 29 year old wife and

shows no signs of chasing any younger than me women.  Whew!  All he wants is a motorcycle, but I think it's more to do with that we are in southern California and he can finally afford one soon, so he's anticipating it like a kid.  Crisis, no I don't think so.

Happy Birthday to you!!!  Hope it was a fabulous one!!

Public School system sucks-they teach for a job in corporate life. Become a spoke in another mans wheel.

Some people go sliding through life like they have landed with their bum in
a barrel of oil, others don't have any oil and try to slide like they do.

Mid-life crisis isn't about regret, it's about taking stock of life and making adjustments.    You look at who you are, and who you want to be - sorting the wheat from the chaff.  You're doing that as we speak, even though you don't realize it.  That's why you got married this late in life.  Somewhere in your brain you said "Where am I in relation to true north" and your soul said "we are here" and pointed to a place on the map.

It doesn't have to be 'a crisis', although it's often interpreted that way.    You're heading into the latter half of life, and just made "a life-changing decision" to set the course for the rest of your life.

A doctor friend of mine asked me to take care of his 280ZX, back when I was
about 19 years old.  I think he just liked me a lot and wanted to see me have fun with the girls.  Damn funny how much girls are attracted to a good looking guy with an expensive car.  By the way, I'm four years ahead of you and have seen no signs of any mid-life crisis so don't think twice about it.  Except, damn, I'd really love to be 19 with that car again!
