It made me think...
Reading this post made me think of people I've met in the past who say things like "Some day I hope to be a Writer..."   or "When I grow up, I want to be a writer.." , etc, etc,  etc....this has always pushed my buttons because either you are or you aren't.  I think most people's mistake is in thinking that a "writer" must get paid for what they do.  We all know that's not true.  I'm a writer too -- sometimes I get paid for it, sometimes I don't.  Writing is my lifestyle, my art, my passion.  Maybe one day it will be my job. : )  ~ A. Thanks, everyone.

For the kind words and thoughts.  My only problem here is, so many blogs, so little time.

I believe we hold our own copyrights, at least that's how I interpret the copyright section on the Help page.

Best of luck.
Love the article. Check out Celeste's blog for quotes about writing that will make you grin from ear to ear.

BTW, er... Isn't everything here copyrighted to Blogit? See the foot of every screen. I think that's part of their terms and conditions.

The Re(ve)al Thing
Yes! I am a writer too! I've always wanted to be one; always felt that I WAS one, but never dared to presume..... Last year, someone to whom I had mentioned in an unguarded moment that I had a sort of secret fantasy to become a writer, heard from another friend that she needed someone to write a grant application. We met, together we wrote the application, and I wrote some other bits and pieces too. It started out as a voluneer project, but later on, I became a PAID writer! Next time I have to get my Drivers' License renewed I might go nuts and put 'writer' in the 'occupation' box!

Since then I have been to a short writers' workshop at my local library; it was eye-opening. Number one: I CAN write; number 2: there is PHENOMENAL talent 'out there'!; number 3: a writer nearly always reveals themselves when they write.

The 'reveal' thing is a bit of an obstacle for me because exposing my self in a piece of writing is up to me, but to write about what I know, (as they say you gotta do), would pretty much mean, for me, as I am a stay@home mother, writing about my family, and I have a problem with that because it feels like exploitation and invasion of their privacy.

That is the story so far.....

You should expand this and send it to Writer's Digest magazine.
I'm sure there are countless writers out there who share your "secret."

Good for you....

Only 2 people in this world that I know, know that I write.  Others just wouldn't understand, not till I get published of course.  Yours was an interesting and inspiring first Post. Welcome to Blogit.
