Don't think of this as an "expense". Think of this as an "investment".
In the business of your writing. Money must be spent on any business, if it's to become a real business, one that is capable of supporting you. It all depends upon how far you want to take it. JMHO!

Well I got rid of my desk top and got a laptop. Wouldn't have it any other way. Now I don't even have to get out of bed to write...

I think getting a laptop is a fabulous idea... but then at the same time
all you really need to do to be able to write wherever you are is a pen and notebook. But that does mean having to type it up... I want a laptop too! In the grand scheme of things is $500 really going to make a huge difference when it comes time to buy a house. I think it is an investment and might enable you to generate more business which means more money towards your house in the long run. Okay that is my two cents. Use it, don't use!
