I was camping in the Redwoods. On Sunday, they announced an" everybody come" church service. I still remember it. Just another great place to pray-mingle.

no late penalty!!
No! I would be so self-conscious about being late, I just wouldn't show! (lol) Actually, if you could get a theologian to host these meetings, that would be interesting. Different faiths, different trends in comparative religion; the trajectory of post-modern Christianity, which scares me silly....

Two By Twos
This sounds similar to the "church" my wife's uncle and his family belong to. They meet in a different "living room" each week at someone's house. They are free to speak as they would like and there is a leader -  the owner of the home leads the discussions. All I know them by is Two by Twos.

Yes, for about six months
It was very comfortable.  Everyone felt free to say his/her piece although there are always people who are only spectators and not speakers.  Without a preacher/parson/priest/whatever,  to direct the group, it became stale after a while.   Most churches survive and grow because of a dynamic leader.  People are drawn to a person more than to a belief it seems.
