In the business of selling, you are selling the product AND you are selling yourself. Your product, in this case your book, is an extension of yourself. If you personally don't like someone, your unlikely to buy something from them (even if it's good). On the flip side, if you really like someone, you'll buy whatever they sell you regardless of whether it is good or not!

Is all of this your own work? You are good!
As for the covers, I prefer A and B, but I'd need to know a bit more about the theme of the poetry in the book.

Gina,
It would be another poetry book.
Kind of like the poems I write on here, only edited and re-worked.

Hi. Cover A looks realistically good. Any photo cover for the blurb wins hands down. Abstract art appeals to the younger generation. Look at the other examples like different cover editions of Rowling's books, The Princess Diaries. Illustration should appeal to targeted market.

My take on it..
is that I think the first one is good from a "This girl is pretty so I'm going to buy her book" sort of marketing standard.
From a purely artistic standpoint, I like C. It's simple, yet interesting to look at. The rest of them appear a little more busy than I typically like.
Or, you could always go with option E, which is to take a random picture of some sort of animal. People love animal pictures. Just make sure that whatever animal you take a picture of, that it doesn't have some sort of raging erection. That's best remedied by making sure whatever you take a picture of is female.

Definately A
That is a gorgeous picture. The rest just don't do any justice.

Mia,
Reread two of your poems and then look at your choices...
your heart will know which one reflects best!

A or B
I would go with the picture because I would like to market myself too, but I do know what you mean about people making comments. I like them both, though.

SanitySlipping,
You're so right - it is what is on the inside that counts - never heard the comedy thing before, but it makes much sense. You can't just have a great cover and a lousy book - it would be like a fool-you-Monet.

Angie,
You're probably right - there are a lot of mean and jealous people out there. Thanks for the compliment.
I always love when you visit my posts.

A or D
In my opinion - who cares what other people think? It's your baby - do what you think is best. The picture of you is great, not pretentious or conceited. But it also depends on what the subject matter is as well.
Eye-candy will definitely get people to pick up the book, but will they buy it? It all depends on what's inside. Like they say about comedy - Open with your best joke and end with your second best.

I like the picture of you.
I wouldn't think you were conceited. I think people who make comments like that are insecure and jealous. I had a friend who was a model, and girls were so mean to her. I told her, just ignore them, they are jealous. I like your artwork too, but the picture of you is nice because the book is about you. Just my thoughts, I'm sure you will choose what is best for you

I like the first one, too.
Even if it's pretty it doesn't mean women won't buy it...I would. I'd be drawn to a picture of a beautiful woman just as easily as a great work of art...
