Possible Diagnosis
The car could have something to do with the way your life is going. Also, I've read that death can signal an upcoming change in your present way of living. Maybe the people you're dreaming about are the ones who'll be involved in your life change -- or your life might change to exclude them in some way. The entire dream seems to suggest impending change. I wouldn't worry too much, but I would keep an open mind to events you might otherwise ignore.

I'm no expert, but being unable to stop your car could mean that you're unhappy with the way your life is going but powerless to stop it, that you feel caught up in the way things are heading but unable to make any changes to it. Or something. Maybe. I dunno.
