I think she recieved this sentence more for being a bitch than any "crimes." Had she not been so insufferable, had she been more willing to "take care of those who take care of her," she would've inspired loyalty from that stock broker and she never would've gotten into trouble in the first place. If there was even a fall to take, somebody else would've been willing to take it for her.

So true Whammie.
There are some good men left, but they're not the ones passing these stupid laws.  I don't know a decent politician in the state of South Carolina, they're all bumbling rednecks who think it's okay to beat their wives.  Take care!

Wife beating did not even become a crime on the books until @ 1978 or 1979

And with men as the enforcers, it was always considered appropriate to keep your woman in check; men were expected to keep their women in control!

On the other hand, these same enforcers have always regarded weed as an evil entity.

So the old attitudes prevail.

I remember when they passed a law that a conviction for DV would make a person inelible to carry a firearm, just resulting in the loss of a police job, even if that crime took place prior to the passing of the law.  You could tell which of the guys had tapped up their wives, by the intensity of the outrage  expressed over the passing of the law.

But they have loopholes such as expungement, and a first offenders counseling program, etc, so I do not know of anyone that actually lost their job as a result.

So, the law looked pretty good to the DV victims' advocates, but apparently in practice, it really does not carry much bite.

Mostly, it is still a man's world!

I noticed your blog today,
but could not read far because it hurt my eyes... can you make the print a tad darker or the grid a tad lighter?

People do more time for having weed
in this state, and less for beating their wives.  Laws are not always well constructed, as we can see by our revolving door of a prison system where child molesters are free and hippies sit in jail.  Take care friend
