the right to divorce under muslim law has indeed been misused and is still being misused. this practice must end and muslim women must get legal protection from abuse of husband'd power. there is no law that permits muslim women to throw out their husband in a similar manner. the most contentious issue however is: should muslim people be subject to a common civil law? answer has to be found for this vexed issue. sadhan mukherjee

written law and common law often oppose our spiritual texts....in all
nations and societies. I like written and equally enforced law....it is more equal in its fairness, I hope and think.
In Brasil, for example, a man can kill his adulterous wife in the arms of another man and pay nothing for the privilege, while a woman cannot do the same under the same circumstances. This doesn't apply so much in the big cities as in the countryside and backwoods areas, like most countries.
