Joseph Campbell

Reading the whole list of Joseph Campbell books lends quite an understanding of religion through the ages and across cultures -- and still leaves it in a positive light.  We need it.  And if we think of it in terms of universal metaphorical truths, it retains its strength without leading us down strange nonsensical paths.
