Comments on bloggers who don't read other bloggers

Go to CONSERVATISM -- A DINOSAUR THAT SHOULD BE EXTINCTAdd a commentGo to bloggers who don't read other bloggers

right melody

I've read some of these bloggers and gotten so mad at what they've said that I've been guilty of what you've mentioned.

sometimes it's hard not to do

I've decided to try not to -- maybe I'll succeed.

point is -- if we want to expand our minds rather than write to see ourselves in print, we will read other bloggers, particularly those with whom we are in disagreement.

West,
Whom I read tends to go in cycles -- some days, I find myself reading almost exclusively those who disagree with me. I understand your frustration, but I just wonder if that which you are complaining about is more random than you believe.

Also, I don't always comment because the debate you seem to long for is very often not at all "debate" on this site, but rather name-calling and petty fighting.

I try to read a little of everyone, you get great stories and insight of who all these people are.

I read everybody, but I don't
always comment. If someone doesn't leave you a comment you will never know if they have read you unless they post their distribution list. I click on posts that look like there is something good that will be said, or something that can be learned. I haven't found anyone that I won't click on, but I do tend to stay away from politics and religion.

how do you know

if I read you or not ..if I don't comment?

Sometimes I'm just wanting to read ...Sometimes I want to talk ...Sometimes I do both ....but you never really know unless I let you know.

I've read those with whom I disagree.

I'm just mad because they don't do likewise.

But if you only read people you agree with, you'll never broaden your mind.  The cost to you is the same.

Most days  I find it most interesting to just brouse through the comments  and pick up on the diferent ideas.

I find it more fun to jump from comment to comment and carying on a conversation that way than writing a new blog. You'll never know what you'll find there. Thanks  tapsel_t for the Bible lesson.

I try to read a little bit of both
people I agree with, and those I don't.  I figure there is a lot I can learn from both.  :)

I try to read everybody
Someone that write's a bad post may come back and write something worth reading. I could care less who is at the top of the rankings. I just gave you several clicks by going through your posts. Happy now? Hehehe

westwend,
I find myself reading those who are interesting a lot- my cup of tea so to speak. Unfortunately, I sometimes can't find the time to read new people each day. You were my new read for today!

Katray - you can't get open debate because....

debate is on the list of those things coming from "a reprobate mind" and one who does it is filled with unrighteousness.  Now, insult and intimidate is not listed, so that is okay to do.   : )

(See Romans 1:28 - 32 for the whole list)

I'm not really reading you westwend I'm a ghost in the computer.

Good points, though. I agree with you. Although perhaps you should balance it out, and read some of the people you disagree with, and some of those who you do? That way you get the best of both worlds!

I think the idea of reading different points of view and discussin them would be the best reason to log on here -- but the cons, as I said, seem just to like to write and read what they write -- don't see much real discourse out there do you?

I don't think money or clicks should be the only reason to read blogs! I find different viewpoints refreshing.

Hi Westwend, good point
As a political blogger for almost a year, I've learned there are some so deeply entrenched in their opinions, beliefs, etc. it is as running into a concrete embankment trying to engage them in open, real debate. They'd rather insult personally and/or intimidate. And often they have visited my blogs to do this. So I've decided to give up on them; wasted clicks both ways, I feel. Instead of rebutting their declarations and so called "facts" in comments, I will write posts of my own to accomplish the same.
