For Me...

...the issue really isn't about accidental pregnancy.  Cases of rape and incest are rare compared to the majority of the cases where abortion is utilized.  These cases require the availability and option of abortion.

There is no question in my mind about the fact that when a woman deems it necessary to terminate her pregnancy, that it is a sad time in her life, indeed.  A certain amount of criticism directed at the woman, instead of at the whole of society, should be expected.  That she allowed herself to be placed into such a situation, if it was of her own free will, is not unreasonable.  Ridiculously ignorant, yes, but not unreasonable.  To have such a lousy choice avail itself to anyone is an indicator of low self esteem, and I would argue that in large part, society is the perpetrator, not the woman engaging in an irresponsible sex act.

But this crap of attempting to regulate the bodily functions of women is absurd and blatantly sexist.  The equivalent regulation for males would be to imprison or fine them for masturbation since their orgasm is technically half of the required components of a viable zygote.

A fertilized ovum is NOT a human soul, kids.  It is a bunch of congregated cells.  The fully formed human body is not an indicator of humanity; Saddam Hussein, certain members of our present US administration, a great many serial murderers, Josef Stalin, Adolph Hitler and his band of merry murderers -- all of these and more remind us that humanity and human consideration comes with a number of specific caveats.  Being a bunch of congregated cells does not entitle you to much of anything in my book.

In short, sanctity has nothing whatsoever to do with the human body.  That is a bigotted myth spread by self serving and self seeking fools of which history bears much sorry witness.  The air we breathe has just as much sanctity as a bunch of congregated cells inside the uterus of a single female.  When we start respecting life in this way I am quite confident that the rate of abortions, worldwide, will abate.

pro-life is really anti-life
The phrase "pro-life" is a joke in itself.  Anti-abortion cons are so sexually deprived/depraved that they want to make sure anyone who's had sex and gotten pregnant by mistake is punished for her "sin".   And these nut cases are still getting off on Bill and Monica, how many years after the fact?
