May be the trick is being kind to the people who appreciate kindness. And the type being able to reciprocrate and pass on the torch of kindness to others. Remember the saying - don't feed pearls to sows who don't appreciate them anyway.

Here here Melodystar
Wonderful post, I echo everything that you said. So many people seem afraid to be nice, as though it would compromise them somehow.

Their loss, I suppose.

I agree totally with the idea
of smiling at someone - you never know what joy you might bring to someone else's life. I actually blogged about that a little while back - I'm glad there are others that feel the same way.

So true.

I believe in kindness--even toward your enemies.

Not too long ago I was in a local drugstore.  The woman in line in front of me was short a couple of pennies.  I could see the cashier was going to be unfeeling and not let the lady take home her goods, so I dug in my own purse and gave her the change.  It was no skin off my back, and I helped someone out.  She was so thankful--gushing over the pennies.  It really touched my heart to see someone that happy and to know that I had a part in making her happy.

I am sorry about your leg.
My neighbor has MS and can't walk.  It's wierd because we were born in the same town in Massachusetts, but we both ended up in rural SC.  Nobody helps her, and my husband gets aggravated with me when I help other people.  He says he feels like he's married to Spiderman.  Take care, hope you get well soon
