It is possible...
that organized religion can be cause for mediocrity.  In fact, there are some groups that would give the impression that faith is OPPOSED to good works.

Can it be that organized religion is perhaps a stumbling block itself?
To overcoming mediocrity both in the physical and spiritual world? Can organized religion because of it's organization actually be part of spiritual sickness?

I've hammered you enough for one day. Nothing here personal, and I do enjoy your writings. You're one of the better writers on here.

Glad you saw my post...
And you did write quite a few interesting things that I thought should be commented on.

What a pleasant surprise
I was wondering why you didn't respond to my comment over at Earthen Vessels, and I stumbled onto your blog here. Thanks for the great comments here about mediocrity and weakness.

I am reading a very interesting book titled "Journey of Souls" by a Dr. Michael Newton, who has conducted hundreds of cases of past-life hypnotic regression. He focuses on periods BETWEEN earthly lives, when souls review past lives and decide what to do next. If what he has discovered is true, then MEDIOCRITY is the primary plague of the human race. It takes hundreds, maybe thousands of years for a soul to overcome a single vice such as jealousy, anger, lust for power, or sexual lust. Apparently, the mediocrity you and I are fussing about in the physical world is just the tip of the iceberg, in the spiritual world. If true, it is disgusting.

Of course, as a minister, you cannot consider such "New Age" things. They are too far outside the approved orthodox doctrines.
