Thank You Quirky
I will keep these rules in mind when on Blogit.
When I started,as I do now,I never figured I was much of a writer but it feels good to put thoughts to page, It's been a good release for me.

I am absolutely brilliant and have no idea why I haven't
yet kicked Ariala out of the top spot  but look over you shoulder all the time ariala and ill be ready to take over from you at any moment.  perhaps when you least suspect it.  good informative thoughtful post.

Thanks

Very interesting and helpful.  I really enjoy reading what other people write.  It would be great to be ranked high, but really I'm just happy to have the creative juices flowing again.  Thanks a lot for pointing me towards this blog.  I know it will come in handy later.  ~ A. Winters ~

May I add a post script??

"#4. Pick a moniker and blog title that showcases your personality and reveals something about who you are, whether that is funny, eccentric, introspective, weird or whatever. It helps if they are memorable, too."

And *stick* with it.  Little hard to develop name recognition when you're constantly changing handles.  Check out the handle history of the top whatever, and you'll find most of them have had the same handle for eons.  Fame isn't fame if they don't know your name.

How nice
to find such helpfulness and such an interesting writer.  I have already read and enjoyed several of your blogs.  I'll take your tips to heart, but just flying around Blogit is so enjoyable.  And it makes me want to write. Thanks!

Merci Beaucoup!

Quirky,

I wish I could print your Top Ten list to tack onto my bulletin board next to my home PC, however, my printer is kaput.  Looks like I will need to go to my CAGE at the CPA firm to print it.

This week is officially my last one there since I resigned, so I welcome any little ways I can get around working with numbers.  Studying your list grants me this wonderful opportunity.

Isn't it ironic, though ... indirectly, the Top Ten list still deals with numbers ...  numbers of things to do, things not to do, maximizing your readers, counting your pennies ...  Well, after all, this business of writing is really just that ... a business.  And it happens to be the kind of business I want to run ... as an income-producing freelancer.

Thank you so much for the practical approach to realizing my dreams.

Love, Marie

THANX

Your welcome and tips were much needed. Good writing, yourself! I've been a freelance writer for 20 years and it's always nice to read other writers who know how to say what they mean.

And then there's the agony of the first line. I have an older saying pasted onto my monitor: "Writing is easy. All you do is stare at a blank sheet of paper (or monitor) until drops of blood form on your forehead."

I have no idea who the in or cliques are...aren't we all in the same clique???

Thanks for the welcome!  I have definitely noticed that leaving comments helps, at least in the case of others.  If I am in a hurry but want to read something new, I usually check out someone who has left me a comment.  I can only hope that other people have the same idea!

Great post, Quirky!

I've been a blogger since June 30, and so far haven't broken many of the rules.   Blogging has been fun for me. It not only allows me to meet new people, but to organize my thoughts, which can become rather cluttered. I've also enjoyed reading the other blogs on this site. There are so many fascinating subjects and people on here!

Quirky, Excellent Post - Thanks for the thought and time behind it.

You have done beautifully here and obviously have spent much time thinking about the BlogIt system and ways to approach it. Sadly, for me, I have done some of the no-no's you list ~ 1. I've left just "Hi"; 2. I've whined about my low ranking and few pennies; 3. Blog titles are boring; 4. My mingling skills are nearly non-existent! and neither have I ever been a memorable character; and 5. It took me a long time to realize what you stated in #8 and I am not good at strategy or politics so I might end up losing!.

Though, according to your list, I have a few good points - I think! 1.  I read and comment as much as possible; 2. I usually post every few days or more often; 3. I put thought into my posts; 4; I TRY to be memorable and come up with interesting and original postings; 4. I am genuine and sincere; and 5. I understand that even if I am an excellent writer (though, I am not saying I am) I may not be popular here.

Anyway - thanks Quirky.  I needed this ~
