liberal shmiberal

Sigh . . . First of all, Mad George was not illegitimately elected--he was illegitmately appointed by the right-leaning Supreme Court after he lost the election.  There was a lot of hanky panky in Florida in election 2000, including the fact that thousands of eligible (mostly poor black Democratic) voters in Florida were denied the right to vote.  Don't you remember that part?  Read Greg Palast's extremely well researched book if you want to inform yourself about that election.

As for the liberal media, there are levels of liberalism just as there are levels of conservatism, and declaring yourself liberal doesn't really say much, especially these days. For example, the popular perception is that Howard Dean is liberal, when from my POV and the POV of many other liberals, he's a centrist, similar in ideology to Clinton and Kerry.  He even labeled himself as from the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party (which is not liberal anymore).  But in these right-leaning times, someone like Dean or Kerry might be considered liberal by journalists and the general public. So when journalists call themselves liberal, it doesn't mean what it used to mean, say, in FDR's era.  To me, a true liberal is Dennis Kucinich, and the media has absolutely mauled him because of it.  They were also extremely nasty to Dean and basically killed his campaign, and like I said, he's no liberal.

So it's all relative, m'dear.  And BTW and FWIW, I'm a girl.

You are the first conservative I've come across on blogit that argues your point with logic and evidence rather than your emotions (something that liberals are accused of doing so often) or religious beliefs.

I've been reading your blogs for the last hour and I almost killed over when you wrote:  “To many liberals, critical thinking is defined solely as accepting and promulgating their opinions, paradoxically without criticism or thinking. (Sadly, some conservatives think the same way.)”

What a conservative admitted other conservatives think this?  Until you , I was unaware that conservatives could find fault with themselves.  UNBELIEVEABLE!

On the contrary, could the reason most journalist are liberal be because journalist in general seek the truth?  Just something to think about.

Do you think the media was liberal during the Clinton years?  Just another thing to think about considering the witch hunt that went on during his eight years as president.

The political beliefs of journalists depend on who’s in office.  Journalists are always out to expose the truth.
