alt, this feeling of being American and 'other' is normal for Americans.

We were all immigrants at one point and those who felt international happenings concerned them were confused about just how to respond to those happenings as 'Americans'.

The Irish funnel money to the IRA from here, the Jews support the Jews back home, the Viet Namese send money, the Chinese worry about relatives back home and send money, the Africans often support countless people back home and have their own opinions about "other" Americans' opinions about Africa within this country.

The Bosnians and Mexicans often represent the old village's new economy from here and what happens outside these borders is important to them. Silence seems best when 'other' Americans are periodically filled with hatred for your countrymen back home and spilling it into your life here. It has happened to almost every immigrant group at one time or another in our history.

Silence is what most of them choose to use, like the Japanese who were interned here in WW II. The shame of being hated silences a person and appears to be the expedient thing to do, to help the hatred subside, they hope, at the time.

Dysfunctional

It's nice you've posted.  I think one can view Muslims as members of a very large dysfunctional family as is everyone.  You may have an Uncle Joe who likes to steal cars.  Since he's a member of the family you'd never speak to anyone outside of the family harshly about Uncle Joe's activities.  Since we're talking cold blooded murder here it's a totally different situation.  If Muslims keep up these types of activities I see a nuclear bomb being dropped.

I do believe you and agree with you that some, perhaps most Muslims abhor the crimes against Americans. But it only takes a handful to cause so much pain and trouble.
