Heheh, to be honest, I really don't like the phone most times either... I have said some pretty stupid things out of excitement of the possibility of something working out...
The reason I do like using the phone, however, is because you almost always get an immediate response--or at least an inclination of whether the response is positive or negative

Great advice Dances! I am a bit shy and don't like talking on the phone,
I'd rather send an e-mail, but then I think I am a pathetic coward and if this is really what I want to be doing I should be grabbing it with with both hands even if one has to be around a telephone. I am so scared.
