glad to be of service.
we're all in this together.
a lot of like minds.
yes, that is interesting.
there are churches where women put doilies on their heads to heed this particular passage.
this is an example (the whole passage) of us intercepting letters written to other people for another time.
they aren't for us.

westwend --- you just clarified something for me
back many years ago when I was attending the mission school JFK was assassinated. The nuns and priests decided to whip up a quick church service to pray for his soul. As it was a short notice deal some of the girls in the school were caught unprepared without their church going hats. They had to have hats. They couldn't set foot in a church without a hat....says so right in the bible dontcha know. So one of the nuns got some paper clips and some Kleenex and attached a tissue to the head of each and every girl without a hat. I thought the strict adherence to this tradition ridiculous at the time but now I know better. Though you might get a kick out of this story.

thank you gheeghee
throughout the ages, these two commandments were the only solid and true -- the eternal ones.

the point I'm making here is that -- right, these things applied to Jews, actually closer to 3,000 years ago (@586 BCE). contemporary Christians, however, use passages from the Book of Leviticus to make their point concerning certain of their beliefs.

Since Leviticus applies to Jews living 5000 years ago,

what is the point of your question?  How about you talk about the basics, like the two commandments of Christ....Love the Lord your God/Love your neighbor.  Aren't these the only things that really matter?  After all, the bible is just a book.

that is my point
thank you.
now we discuss what is timeless

Not everything applies

The parts of the Bible which are centered entirely in the culture of the times are not applicable today and can be set aside and appreciated for what they were/are.  To apply them today would be wrong.  The spiritual lessons which still apply are practically timeless.

There are some parts of the bible that are not applicable in our times. From our point of view they have never been right. As Ned Flanders says " I even do the stuff (in the bible) that contradicts the other stuff. "
