You have to admit, there's not much industry there.
But we're losing most of our industrial base on the mainland, too.  There's nothing like an 8-hour factory job that pays overtime for working on Saturday.... I'm kidding, but only half....

Wow, I didn't even know people believed this stuff about Hawaii, but now that you've brought it up-- it doesn't surprise me.

Most people would have watched the tv serial "Hawaii Five-O" back in the '70s. Its not that bad a misconception about Hawaii. There are also some kids' programs that feature Hawaii culture but in small segments; not complete picture.

And here I was thinking that it was felt that.....
only those who live on Caribbean Islands run around naked, climbing coconut trees and lounging around in grass huts! Thanks for the info.
