Tamara, she writes in the long, back to slavery times, history of great
Black American Women writers, strong voices, no whining and giving strength to others to continue in life's struggle with dignity and hope.

Loba Mia, she opened her speech with "que bonitos ojos tienes" and all
Arizonans in the crowd went wild with her choice of delicious Spanish. Love that song, too. She won our hearts immediately with those words. She proceeded to praise women and we all said, "Amen".

Tamara, she came to speak and read about women here a few years ago and
I took my three year old granddaughter, so that I could always say to her, "You went with me to hear her speak," and thus turn her on to Maya Angelou's work.....I hope it works......She is ten now and I have only had time to read 'Phenomenal Woman" to her, so far. So much to do.....so little time. We just did a report on Togo together. I gave her all of my Togolese art, clothing, music and things to take to class to add to her report. Should be 'phenomenal'!
She will invite my ex-host child, De'De' from Togo to go to her class and answer some questions for them.

I love Maya Angelou, too - especially hearing her put to voice the words that have resonated in my head many a time.
