Thank you for your observations and insights, gvgeyui. I am convinced we are in Iraq for reasons of unchecked greed. Oil is part of it, in my opinion, but not the entire story. I too pray often for those in danger, suffering and slaughtered. And for the lost souls who lead us into such travesty. God is surely listening and I admit I don't see His plan. Not supposed to yet I believe. However, I feel a strong need, not based completely on anger or frustration to share my views and perhaps enlighten, if only one person. Perhaps this also is part of God's plan... It would be interesting to hear more concerning these issues from you.

It pains me to watch a gentle woman seethe with anger and frustration. As a warrior I cannot react with the same anger although I share the same passion and ideals. I detach myself and go my tent and meditate on the meaning of things. The only justifiable war is to defend life and property. Offense as defense is justifiable only in extreme cases and , incontrovertible evidence and urgency.
In a just war. people die and accept death as heroism. When Hitler started killing Jews, occupying territories, stealing property, we rallied in a just war. When the Japanese started occupying territories, killing people, stealing properties, and invading our shores ( Pearl Harbour), again we rallied to a just war. We spawned war industries in the process which we did not know what to do during times of peace.
When, Polpot killed millions of his own people, we said we had no business to interfere. When the Hutu's did the same thing to the Tutsi's we did the same. When the Croatians and the Bosnians did their intramurals, we said the same thing. When Korea had it's family feud, we entered the fray. When the Vietnamese did the same thing, we saw the the big hand of the Chineses Dragon and entered the fray at an enormous cost in people, money and respect. We invaded Panama, to rid it of a dictoator. We invaded Cuba in the Bay of Pigs and embarrassed ourselves with Castro laughout us out of little molehill. We recoiled because of fear of nuclear escalation.
Why are we in Iraq? Is it because of oil? But we always had oil. We never lost control of oil. The Middle East is really nothing but a raw material storeroom for the Oil industry and its cousins. Oil in the ground has little value without the subsequent value chain. Is it because of a tyrant, greedy and murderous leader? If that were the reason, we should also be in Zimbabwe, Angola, Libya, Liberia ( already) and probably another dozen countryies in the world.
We have lost our original justification for war. This is no longer a war of defense of people and property. This is a war to impose our culture and civilization. This is a war that had gone beyond pure defense and security, this is not a war for economic gains, not a war for real estate. This has become a war between a culture that values freedom and rights of the individual and a culture that denies the rights and freedom of the individual in favour of a divine duty.
It is the only way I can look at it. The ones who make the decisions have an agenda that they cannot articulate publicly because it would create a division and chaos unimaginable in consequence.
I am only one person. I believe in a Divine Providence Who knows the Nature of things better than I. I will pray and ask for guidance. What I need to do will be made clear to me when the time comes.

Perhaps you should blog about this, EccentricShock...
Thank you for reading and sharing that. Yes I believe military personnel, especially those lower on the totem pole are grossly underpaid and mistreated as the slaves they are considered to be by the powers above. Part and parcel of the sick injustices we are suffering under.

Oh, sometimes I wish I was in a different galaxy, wouldn't have to be bothered as much with all the nonsense being perpetrated by ignorance and arrogance. Ah, I think it high time I juice up my rocket and soar the heavens

Would like to add:
Since war was declared over many months ago and we have had more wounded than when war was active, soldiers are not entitled to war benefits, i.e. family's would receive more military war veteran family benefits, wounded soldiers injured during non-warfare are not entitled to the same benefits as soldiers injured during warfare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a vet. Shavonne, back me up.
