I wasn't clear in my earlier comment.  I did not intend to imply that the abuses our soldies committed were the same abuses that the Iraqis committed.  We're doing exactly the same the thing they did because we are ignoring their basic human rights.

Are we really doing the same?

jadedmind, thanks for reading! But while I agree that war itself is an atrocity, please identify for me the rape rooms, mass executions, mass gassing of dissident civilians and other Sadaamian tactics that our people are using, since you say we're doing exactly the same things his goons did.

oh brother, where art thou?
eaprez, thanks for reading! That's exactly the same allegation Rush Limbaugh makes about liberals. Have you been listening to him?

oh brother
This is what people who share this view of the world always do when scrutinized - they change the subject!!!! My only surprise is that you didn't throw Bill & Hillary's name in there.

First of all, "alleged" abuses?  Are we assuming these prisoners humiliated and killed themselves?  Alleged should only be used when nothing has yet been proven.  I think abuse has bee proven at this point.

Also (although I think it's ridiculous to debate atrocities committed in wartime since war itself is an atrocity), I think the hue and cry is about the hypocrisy of the abuse.  We claimed we were rescuing the Iraqi people from a regime that abused them, and then we're shown to have done exactly the same.
