When it comes to baseball, I'm not interested in kissing -- just stats.
Stats that contribute to winning games. A catcher like Pudge is worth at least 1/2 to 1 run a game for a team like the Tigers. His defense, including throwing out and intimidating runners, lowers ERAs when he is behind the plate. His bat, more so than most catchers, add significantly to his team's run production when he is in the lineup. Offense and defense combined, he's worth at least 10 wins on the low side, up to 20 wins on the high side (depending on playing time and how good a season he actually has). Adding this to a team that I think is more than 20 games better than last year without Pudge, you can see why I expect them to win 70+ games. I believe I've stated 73 wins probable, and up to 83 possible.

Gee, I don't know.
Maybe I can look it up. Does anybody keep track of things like that?
Thanks, T
