Yes really Benzinha
I don't know the technical side but I know a good tale when I read it.

Temple, your comment about Tijeras canyon and pintos reminded me of my

rides on old Red through the rainforests of El Hatillo in the misty mountains above Tegucigalpa, Honduras. There were parrots and macaws in clolorful flocks flying overhead and roosting in the trees and orchids dripped and hung from the trees there. Beautiful. I rode slowly, too, everyday during one half of one summer.

Horses and canyons and slow rides, good for the soul, no? That meadow sounded heavenly. No, I don't know it, Tijeras Canyon.

beachbelle, the suspense was tangible, really? Thanks. Your compliments,
being the schoolmarm, editor, writing critic that you are, mean more to me than many. Gracias. How the heck did I make the suspense tangible? I will have to go and reread the story myself, looking for tangible suspense techniques.

Sounds like an offer!

I used to have a skirt like that, but it was brown suede!

And I was 21!  Just kidding.  I used to ride a pinto and a buckskin all through Tijeras canyon.  Do you know it?  I'd ride alone and go to the meadow and sit.  Look around at the wildflowers while I took communion with my horse.

One day, I'm going to come see you.  I'm going to make you tea and fold your laundry and type and type.  You will tell me stories about your girlhood, your favorite husband, your travels, and I will make sure there is a book.  I will give you a big hug and thank you for taking me away in my mind, being so sweet always, and being my long lost Abuelita.  :)

I told Mom this story today and she said that she had been there, too. She
also  pointed out that this was in the dinosaur days before the television show mentioned in the post......I told her that I had used my Artistic License on this one, making it more understandable to younger readers. We actually had no television, nobody did. Prehistoric, no?

Friar Agustin, there is an art to both, I find. Trying to make a statement
either within someone's mind's eye or within their true eye, is my job in life. That and being a grandmother.

You don't only create figures in clay
you also know how to paint pictures with words.
