Our computer crashed and crashed and crashed
so many times.  I couldn't figure it out.  And once I wrote this absolutely wonderful paragraph which is now completely lost because it was typed into one of these input screens....   Anyway.  The problem was even more had the serviceman stumped.  He replaced our hard drive once, even.  FINALLY, he figured out what the problem was.  The fan started squeeling and once we had it replaced, all our problems ceased.  It has a huge heat sink on it, too.  It must have been causing a short circuit that made the computer crash.  I'd hate to think you might lose something, the way I did.  There's NO WAY I can recreate that lost work of art!

<raising hand> your not the poorest blogger in the neighborhood, promise.
I had to put $2 in my gas tank to get home from an interview.  It's all I have!  Rationing out ramen, praying that my internet doesn't get disconnected so that I can still job hunt.  I get it.  I'm sure that somewhere in the quiet, there is a new solution for you.  Just walk away from it for a while.  It will be okay :)

You need a new machine or you need to NOT load new software.

Used machines are not THAT expensive. Maybe you need a used machine with just enough capability to be your dedicated internet machine, period; then, you could carry any files you want to mess with to your other machine(s) on a diskette or CD? Reliability.

Check your local county for surplus sales. Ditto schools. State Uuniversities are big on replacing their machines frequently. At end of term, post handbills at a local university, especially one with dormitories, offering what you are willing/able to pay for a used computer and see how many graduating/leaving people bite on it?

(shudder)

having been through this myself, I know what it's like.  My sympathies.

I hope I get to meet you in person one of these days.  My biological grandparents being departed, I think you would make an excellent soulmate benzhina.

It's frightening me again. Everything is very very slow, noisy and

while I type the computer keeps popping open windows saying that it wants to report internal errors in my Windows Explorer. Darn, rats, poo poo.

I reloaded a newer version of it yesterday for over an hour!! I'm using my old MSN connection cd as the newer one fails to fully load or talk to me when it is loaded. Rats!

But, I have Instant Messenger back and talked to my sister in Guadlajara this a.m. That was good. Missed talking to her. She went through this computer hell last year.

Guess I'll have to give up sleep, wrok twice the hours and somehow get an extra $500 and buy some newer thing.....how how how? I sleep 6 hours now and work the rest of the time, except for daily Blogit fix, which could be better spent earning dollars rather than pennies, I suppose. Rats! I like these pennies from heaven...writing is my only fun next to smoking. Everyone would rather that I write than smoke, right?

I never leave this house unless dragged or to take the grandchildren somewhere fairly free. RAts?!?!?

Being the poorest blogger in the neighborhood, giving you all another perspective on ife in the good ol' USA. I remain, your old friend who prays faithfully over her hard drive now....please god, please god, please god, keep it working, please.....

bb, I knew that you weren't going to have a sex blog. And, I can never buy

a new computer, this one was a gift from my brother who wanted the whole darned family online that year.

I thought of the MotoGUZZI phrase while working on the cursed machine and wrote it down, as I liked it and didn't want to forget it, because nowadays, I forget everything. It was my favorite thought in the whole post, too. Like minds.

Still packing treasures into boxes?

Friar, hermano, my computer is five yrs. old. My brother bought me an

eMachine on sale. Now, all my PC Magazines, a gift from my sister, tell me that eMachines are the lowest of the low and weakest in the cyberchain. Rats!

So, prayers won't work then? It's just dying and I have to accept it's death.

Passionflower, I can't aford to throw away old bread!! Money and what it

buys is all relative to a person's life choices, I suppose. I choose to buy electricity, water, gas, gasoline, food and a roof to rent to cover my head. My vice is cigarettes, but, but, but, it is my ONLY one. And it is my only luxury. New computers? Only when I win the lottery, or when Mom does. She says that she'll buy me the car, house and computer of my dreams.

All I really want is a fabulously stocked art studio.....and I'll just live with this old computer, old van, old bread and old needs.

Thanks for the suggestion, however. Know where I can get one that won't crash and will do all that this one does for around $100? Which, I don't have, by the way.

The imagery of the Rome back street on a Motoguzzi
is the kind of thought I like - enduring and classic. Reminds me too of my watertank friend.

Everyone is too old, too young, too something for computer troubles. Upgrade or get a laptop and put the key things on there too

computers have a life-span:  five years tops.  How old is the one you've been using?

Computers are pretty cheap now. Why don't you just give that one a decent burial and go buy a new one?
