yeah I remember

I remember the day I came home from school to find mom had thrown out my Barbies.  Never got over it.  I think it was the invasion of privacy, that she got in my closet .  Also, that what was important to me didn't matter, was trash to her.  Hurt deep.  She wasn't trying to be mean, I mean she was a wonderful mom in many ways, but she didn't understand my need to keep.Still brings tears to me eyes and I am 51!

some of us learn, some of us don't.
Keep it all!  My mother threw away my childhood memories at her whim, and I have lost many things on my own.  The emptiness is much harder to deal with, than the chore of deciding what to keep and what to give away and what to finally let go of.  Bless your heart for putting others before yourself, because of what you learned.  Some of us never do, ya know?

Good to know I am not the only one...
I have saved many a napkin in my day... Chuck E. Cheese's, the local coffeehouse--it mattered not, as long as --like you say, it had a horizontal surface
