Mel, I think..
is expecting the snobbery.  But good Catholic that he is, I think he won't mind.  Orson Welles was snubbed several times, but history has vindicated him.  I think that "The Passion" will be a classic.  It has done more in just a few hours what the TV series "Jesus of Nazareth" did in several.  Mel will be vindicated by history.  I am sure.

Aw, cmon
go watch it now.  I am going to blog about the movie and start dissecting it in the light of some of the sources that Mel Gibson used.  If you don't watch it NOW, my blog is going to take away the surprise element of the movie.  I encourage you to see it, not only once.  It is not as gory as people say it is.  (Well, I'm used to seeing that kind of violence since I was a kid -- somewhere here at Blogit I already wrote about the first time I and my sister saw Fr. Peyton's "Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary," so I am a bit inured to it.  Besides, Catherine Anne Emmerich's visions were more violent than what Mr. Gibson was able to present in his film.  I think that the violence was TEMPERED because of the additional research Mr. Gibson did on his opus.)
