If they listened, it's a good message

My dad used to work for a charity....

that does good things with kids.  They were trying to open the door into a new community that had a lot of issues, and one of the people my dad recruited was the local DA.   At a meeting with the parents (mostly single mothers), the DA stood up and said "Mothers - you can give 'em to me now, or you can give 'em to me later.  Your choice."

They *all* knew what that meant.

Yeah, that would be embarassing.

I'd laugh but...
I've been getting to know our local police lately. My babysitter's husband is one of them. And her best friend. And now I worry more about being pulled over by someone I know than about getting a ticket.
