glad to know that...
At the moment I am still groping, you see.  I just don't want to be straitjacketed by the articles presented randomly.  And you are right:  there are blogs that shouldn't be in the categories where they are now.

Oops!
Sorry, Friar.  I'm so sleepy I didn't even notice I missed the F in my previous comment.  I think its time to get some sleep before I find myself waking up at the keyboard.

riar

My pattern is quite similar to yours except that I usually ignore the featured blogs and the testimonials and I often check out the comments to see if there is a lot of buzz over something I haven't read yet.

When I find a post a like I often scroll back to see what came before.  This often leads me to check out other blogs from the same person, regardless of category.  The category subjects are loosely followed at best, and totally ignored at worst.  For instance, I've found religion and personal journal blogs in Sports and I've found sports posts, and entire blogs dealing mostly with games and sports, all over the place.

When I have a little time on my hands I also like to check out the tail end of interesting categories to see what captured the interest of departed bloggers.  Sadly, I often find some excellent writing there.  I consider this sad because the blogger is no longer with us, and because it reminds me that many departed bloggers deleted their blogs when they left.  I often wonder about all of the fine writing I'll never get to read because I got there too late.

You are what you read...
sometimes.  Thanks littlemspickles.

i've been working my way through
dave_cryers alphabetical listing. i pick a letter, then work my way through those listed. if there is someone that i find interesting i add them to my favourites. every now and then i go back through my favourites and cull them, especially if someone has stopped posting. but i find, some of the more interesting reads come from the comments people leave on other people's posts or at the community blog. i think there are some really intersting writers out there, many who have never made it into the 'popular' circle, and are quite happy to write what they know best, without trying to catch clicks through tricks. i guess it depends on what you want to read on blogit as to who you choose to read!

I do use the search function

but only when i am looking for an interesting article i've read before but can't remember.  it is then that i use key words.

On Favoritism

The system at Blogit can become  a straight jacket for new readers.  I am trying to check out who's who first -- not according to ratings (that can be arranged, you see, as I have already explained it) -- but according to talent.  During the last two days, I found two or three guys whom no one among you would probably read and who wouldn't find themselves in the first fifty of each category (if things remain as they stand).  The Blogit system favors "favoritism by clicks" -- I don't like to fall for that.  (Oh, it is not Shaycom's fault though, please understand what I am saying).

friar_tuck
favoritism, isn't such a bad thing! if there are bloggers out there that you consistently enjoy reading, then read them! the only question i have for you is....do you ever use the 'search' function? either for interesting posts about certain topics, or more frequently like the rest of us, search for your name in the hope that someone might have written about you! happy blogging, looks like you've settled in well!

Ok
but then you would only be limiting your clicks to the few who've stayed long enough and who have written much.

I always go to the most pop of the day and take it from there.
