Wiley, I'm Sorry...
...I only just saw this from you.

First, I can't take the credit for the research. I credit the site its all on under the About This Blog section to the right.

Your questions...

"Now, is this guy Bin Laden one who would be living in such a past with perhaps socio-pathological insanity driving him on?"

I don't believe this is the case. It's too easy to call our enemies nut-cases and proceed on the basis that we're right and he's just a psycho. More likely, in my view, is that he represents an extreme world view (as does Bush!), only bin Ladens sees the western violence and asset-stripping directed against the Muslim people as part of a pattern that's been going on since the Crusades. Certainly they, like the Chinese, have a sense of history that Americans simply can not comprehend.

Bringing the story up to date, both Iraq and Saudi represent Muslim holy lands - the seat of the Capiph, Mecca, Medina - and now there's non-believing westerners tramping all over them with little regard or respect for the religion or the culture. Try to put yourself in their shoes, and you can see why they're pissed off.

"Or was America so in need of oil, or petro dollars, that they created this scenario?"

Certainly! Iraq has nearly a third of the worlds reserves. America has less than 3%, and yet is far and away the biggest oil consumer. This was about securing the supply, for sure. (Also, the only reason the dollar is the base currency for the world is that oil is traded in dollars. Saddam made moves to switch oil trades to the Euro, and Bush couldn't allow that to happen).

"Could we in America be living on the brink of a collapse of democracy just as Communism collapsed?"

I think so, and not just America, though that's where the collapse will start. Every empire ever, every system in the history of the world has eventually collapsed. And i'm sure every one held the fundamental belief that it would be different, that it would survive.

Not one has yet been right. Our system is now looking very, very wobbly and full of cracks and holes. This year? Next year? Unlikely. But within a decade is my guess.

Thatnks for stopping by!

Damon,

wow, that is a lot of information, how on earth do you find the time to read and compile all this, I'm impressed as hell.

Personally, I have to wonder how much of 9/11 is just about" it's the Arabs time again." Question I would ask someone else, like yourself, with the education you obviously have is this.

For instance, James Carroll  in his book, Constantine's Sword: "Christian armies decisively defeated the Almohads in 1212. Before long, Muslim rulers were vanquished throughout the peninsula, except for an enclave in the far south, around Granada. When Christians retook Cordoba once and for all the Cross went back  on the Great Mosque, where it remained."

Now, is this guy Bin Laden one who would be living in such a past with perhaps socio-pathological insanity driving him on?

Or was America so in need of oil, or petro dollars, that they created this scenario? Could we in America be living on the brink of a collapse of democracy just as Communism collapsed?

Great blog, sorry for the longish comment
