One item isn't quite right......
You *can* update your most popular blog, because it is the BLOG and not the particular POST that is the most popular.
If 10,000 people read your OLDEST post today and NO ONE read your newest one in the same blog, your blog would still show #1, and would show your most recent post on the most popular list.
