In My Soul. by Rabia of Basra

In My Soul

"In my soul there is a temple, a shrine, a mosque, a church where I kneel.

In my soul there is a temple, a shrine, a mosque, a church that dissolve,

        that dissolve in God."

                                                    --Rabia of Basra (c717-801)

I wanted to share this lovely quote I included in my column yesterday.  I think it so important that we recognize its all ONE God.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT ISLAM

It troubles me to see people interweaving faith with the issues in this War.  The US fought against Germans, in large part Christians, and I feel comfortable each side prayed to the same God for victory without feeling they were being pulled between that faith and their war efforts.

I do not believe the Islamic world condones the way Saddam rules.  It is his inhumanity, not his faith in Allah, that is being attacked.  If he followed the tenets of the Q'uran there would be no need for this War.

May Allah bless us this day and always.
