Barrel Cactus blooming

At New Mexico's Rock Hound State Park, there were dozens of these beauties all bearing both fruit and buds, and almost-blooming flowers. Could not find a single one, however, gazing at the sky with all its wide-open gorgeousness. Sign in to see full entry.

THE RUBBER-BAND PLAN

note to self: next time you order a new bank card, just because the old one was plumb wore out, make sure you let all your subscription sites know about the new number, so all those automatic payments will, in fact, be made automatically, and you won't get those cute little 'account cancelled for... Sunrise at Royal Gorge--fine way to start the day! We had over-nighted in a free and vacant campground about a mile before the bridge over Royal Gorge. To find such a place in such a place was a great and delightful surprise. Royal Gorge is one of those spectacles of nature that has been... Sign in to see full entry.

We were so lucky! We had a flat tire this morning!

It could have been last night in the thunderin' rain alongside I-70... Could have happened out on the ranch road miles from anywhere, where we drove out to exercise the lens... Could have been on a mountain road on a sharp turn... But it was about 100 feet before a truck turn-out, which was less... Sign in to see full entry.

Renaissance Faire action!

These are not my best shots ever, and they are overexposed a bit, but... wow! Action! I have not been able to take good action shots for years, since the old SLR gave out... Sign in to see full entry.
