New York's Central Park Zoo
This is some kind of kingfisher, one of the first birds that caught my attention--and vice versa--in the Central Park Zoo aviary. But I don't know which of the 90 varieties of kingfisher it is--if anyone does, please let me know! This is the largest of pigeons, since the extinction of the dodo,...

Husband is off to Portland for a fencing tournament this weekend--thinking I might go along, and head out to the coast, see if the sea lions are still basking on the Astoria piers... There I was, roaming around the gamescape, when suddenly... CRACK! a flash of blue, a smell of singed electronics... toasted power supply unit with a side of fried motherboard...
