How about an inexpensive reader-only subscription? (spreading the word)

How about an inexpensive reader-only subscription?

Obviously, I'm not suggesting it for myself, but for my readers from other sites. I would like to be able to send out invitations to subscribe to read Blogit, like a newspaper or magazine, for a modest monthly price, say $2.  This will make Blogit much more attractive to readers, especially when they compare the cost of reading Blogit (currently $12.95 month-to-month) to the cost of their Atlantic Monthly, New Yorker or even Architectural Digest.  Of course, they could always upgrade to a writer's subscription if they wish, but I am thinking few of them will and those that do will only do so after several months of reading and conferring with the writers on Blogit.  Those writers, in turn, will have more encouraging reviews of Blogit as a source of income if there is a substantial readership pool from which to draw.

When you think about the ratio of readers to writers at a successful periodical, which is at least in the many tens of thousands in order to pay the writers and the support staff and management through both subscriptions and advertising, Blogit's one reader per writer -- which is closer to one reader to hundreds of writers when considering actually readership of individual writers -- is patently absurd!  And the cause of that perverse ratio for Blogit is the lack of a reader-only subscription.
