And here's a challenge. Let's see, throw in the word "BLOG" to get readers.

I guess it is inevitable that interaction will try to stay proximate to action (i.e., people crowding comments after a blog which is not neccessarily interactive in nature).

And inevitably there are people who have to keep ratcheting up their level of vitriol, sometimes just dissing, then revving it up. Or collecting little green stamps of injury and then pasting them into their little albumn of owies, posting it, and then diveboarding off it into a rant.

First off, wear this shoe if it fits. But....

Second, the rule of thumb I observe is that if an exchange is taking more than two salvoes and does not concern the blog anymore other than to slander the writer EVEN IN JEST , you are running the risk of being a boorish lout. Take it from a past master. Move it to the coffee bar or Community Comments.Get a room. Pies at fifteen feet at Marie Calendar's parking lot. But you hurt the infrastructure when you just stir it up.

THIRD: CHALLENGE: You wanna make a crack, make a crack, then get out of the blogs. Someone taks a crack at you and it isn't a critique, blow it off. If they bother you enough, complain to the webmasters. IF they harass you with emails, tell the webmasters and, if that fails, contact your ISP.

And with the first point above firmly in mind, if you want to pick on somebody, pick someone your own size or someone who thinks you're funny, you dunce!
