Little Rosebud

Writing about Little Rosebud's antics reminded me of her entrance into this world. To begin with, my daughter had no idea she was pregnant. We had flown to North Carolina to help her pack up as her husband was leaving on a year long deployment to Iraq. As I was packing her bathroom, I came across an... Sign in to see full entry.

Wild Child's wild child

Wild Child is beginning to apologize on a regular basis for the wild child she was. Mostly because now she has her very own wild child and is beginning to realize how I felt when she was a child. Funny how things turn out. A few weeks ago when they were visiting, Little Rosebud (oh, how that name... Sign in to see full entry.

Granddaughter

Today I got news that rocked my world - and not in a good way. My beautiful 8 year old granddaughter was diagnosed as bi-polar. This is the second of my grandchildren diagnosed with this condition. He was diagnosed when he was only 5. The psychiatrist says it is rare for children to be diagnosed.... Sign in to see full entry.

Ride Home

Why is it that the drive home always seems longer than the drive there? Quite possibly because my beautiful little granddaughter is standing in the driveway with tears in her eyes waving goodbye after a tight hug and begging me not to leave. We had such a wonderful weekend together. She woke me up... Sign in to see full entry.

Today

Today was a day of crafting. My daughter made a gorgeous wreath out of - you won't believe it - coffee filters! She watered down paint, dipped the coffee filters in and gently wrung them out, and laid them out on waxed paper to dry. Then she made them into flowers and glued them on a styrofoam... Going for a drive

What a glorious day for a drive. It takes me about 2 hours and 20 min. to get to Manhattan to see my daughter. The best part is driving through the Flint Hills. I set my cruise control to 78 and plug in my favorite CD and just enjoy. We had a warmer than normal winter and an early spring so the... Sign in to see full entry.

Weekend

I'm off to spend the weekend with my girls. At 2 and 6, they already know shopping is an essential part of spending time with Guy. They are hysterically funny to go with. For some reason Little Rosebud likes to strip. We will pushing her along in the stroller and somehow, she gets her shirt off even... Sign in to see full entry.

Last Day of School

Today is the last day of school. I have decided not to return next year. This is the first year in 18 years that I can honestly say I am not sad to see the year end. When my mother-in-law passed, her physical therapist came to visit often and sing hymns with her. We asked her how she could do her... Sign in to see full entry.

Grief

My husband is having a very difficult time. We seem to be going through the steps of grieving at different times. I had a difficult time accepting his mothers death where he said he felt at peace with it. Now we seem to have reversed that. He has been crying so much lately and not sleeping which is... Cemetary

My family and I went to the cemetary on Mother's Day and had a balloon launch. It was pretty neat to see the balloons head to the heavens. I know that Mickey would have loved it. We decided to do it every year. I also watched as my 11 year old grandson stood at my father-in-law's grave marker with a... Sign in to see full entry.
