System Status

Database maintenance is scheduled for 12:00 am - 2:00 am Blogit Time (MST) on Sunday, April 11th, 2004. We expect the site to be unavailable for approximately 10 minutes during maintenance.

A problem with a Blogit data storage server appears to have affected certain posts and comments.

All blogs are displaying as expected. However, any affected posts and comments display the text, "This (post/comment) cannot be displayed. Please try again in a few minutes."

We are working to correct the problem. The problem appears to primarily affect posts and comments posted earlier in the morning Blogit Time (US Arizona Time).

We apologize for the inconvenience. If you wish to remove any relevant posts and repost them, you may do so. New posts and comments seem to be displaying correctly.

Update

One of the hard disks on a Blogit data storage server stopped working at approximately 11:45 am Blogit Time (US Arizona time).

All data is saved to multiple hard drives to avoid data loss. As a result, the majority of data was saved despite the hard drive failure. Unfortunately, due to a technical problem, some data was not.

We are working to restore any lost data. We are also investigating the reason for this problem so we can prevent this from happening again.

Update 2

Despite our best efforts, we were unable to restore the posts and comments that were submitted shortly before the hard disk failure Wednesday morning Blogit Time. Other posts and comments appear to be intact. If possible, please resubmit any affected posts.

Although the number of affected items was relatively small, our goal is to prevent any data loss. We are working on a plan to keep this problem from recurring.

BN was inaccessible for approximately eighty minutes starting at 5:27 pm BN Time (US Arizona time). Our web hosting provider has notified us that this was a result of a problem that affected many web sites including BN.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Everything appears to be working correctly at this time, and we are monitoring BN functions for any issues. In case of any problems, please contact us.

BN was unavailable for approximately ninety minutes starting at 7:05 pm BN Time (US Arizona time). The downtime was apparently caused by an issue with our web hosting provider that affected a large number of web sites, including BN.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and are monitoring BN to ensure that everything is working correctly. In case of any problems, please contact customer service.

To improve performance and handle the growing number of members, we are moving BN to more powerful servers.

This maintenance is scheduled for 10 pm BN Time (US Mountain Standard Time) on October 30, and is expected to last approximately 30 minutes.

Since this is a significant change, please let us know if you experience any problems following the upgrade. We will resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

System maintenance is scheduled for 10:00 pm BN Time (US Pacific Time) on October 24 and 1:00 am BN Time on October 25. The Network should be unavailable for less than 20 minutes on both occasions.

We expect this maintenance to improve the reliability of the Network.

All BN systems are functioning normally.

The planned system improvements last night (BN Time/US Pacific Time) were completed successfully. We apologize if you were unable to access BN for brief periods as a result of system maintenance.

Please note that BN systems have not been affected by recent events such as the computer virus that affected some BN members or by attacks on other web sites. Our web hosting provider has systems in place, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems, to help prevent such problems.

Although this is not a BN-specific issue, we have provided information that may help keep BN members from being affected by the recent computer virus.

Our database server will be down for system maintenance at approximately 12:00 am BN Time (US Pacific Time) tonight. The Network should be unavailable for less than 30 minutes.

We expect these changes to improve the performance and stability of the Network.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the intermittent problems over the past three hours. These problems appear to have been resolved, and we are continuing to test all functions.
