As candidate George W. Bush he never told America he was for dismantling the economic safety net and structure of the USA or the emasculation of the federal regulatory agencies that protect the public's health and welfare. He also didn't tell us that he would be in favor of a jihad in the middle east or anywhere else he thought we had an "interest" in making regime change.
