Fewer Americans are working past age 65

That statistic comes as quite a shock to me. With the news from our big media that the rich get richer in this country and the poor are getting poorer I would never have thought this possible. I would have figured the percentage of people who had to work past age 65 would steadily climb. This is not... Sign in to see full entry.

Andrew Fastow; I just don’t know

The whole Enron deal has been one big debacle. The company did so many things wrong you can’t really fathom all they were doing. So many working people lost lots of money and retirement savings in the ordeal. It has taken a few years to sort it all out and bring people to trial. The big boys are on... South Dakota and abortion

I guess the people have spoken on the issue. Well, they have spoken through the legislators they elect who act as "the people". At least they have in South Dakota. Now, the court challenges will begin. The idea is for this to go all the way to the Supreme Court in hopes the justices will overturn... Sign in to see full entry.

A.T.&T. making a comeback?

In 1984 the government busted up A.T.&T. Twenty some odd years later A.T. &T. seems to be making a comeback of sorts. It’s mergers with Southwestern Bell and Bell South will give it prescence in a lot of the country with local phone lines, long-distance service, and cell phones. I don’t know if this... Students should be suspended with teacher

The students who walked out of class in a show of support for the teacher in Colorado who slammed President Bush should be suspended from school just like the teacher. The teacher was teaching Geography! Well, he was supposed to be teaching Geography. How he got on political science is a mystery to... Sign in to see full entry.

I don’t think they thought that one through!

OK, so I am sitting in the breakroom at work minding my own business and trying to eat and two women begin talking at the table next to me about things. They decided to include me in their conversation for some reason! Lady1: (to Lady2) My daughter has just lost her job. She said it was being moved... Sign in to see full entry.

Get off your butt and do something about it

A trip to Louisiana really brought a few things to the fore for me. The local news is still full of stories about Katrina and Rita and how it’s been so hard on people. The media seems to be able to find people who are sitting around and waiting on some government entity to hand them something. They... Sign in to see full entry.

Gen. Honore; he’s my type of guy!

General Russell Honore was interviewed by Wolf Blitzer on TV earlier tonight. It was a pretty tame discussion, but the general will tell us all just exactly how it is. I liked the general from the start. I really jumped on his bandwagon with his "don’t get stuck on stupid" remarks to the media... Sign in to see full entry.

Sad story about Gregoire; remember the animals!!

In my politics blog, for lack of a better place to put it, I posted a sad story about a chimp named Gregoire. The poor old boy spent about 50 years in solitary confinement in a zoo in Congo-Brazzaville. He was rescued by Jane Goodall and had a good life after that. The last reports I have seen on... Curt and I had many adventures and good times!

That would be me and legendary sportscaster Curt Gowdy. He died today at the age of 86 after a lengthy bout with leukemia. He was a true giant and icon in the world of American, and international sport to some extent. Curt and I fished in many a clear, cool stream. He and I flushed out many covey of...
