When We Need Them, Our Teachers Will Be There

Continuing Thursdays With Death. When we left, Zaqen had lifted his pant-legs to show Lanny his legs... I glanced down and had to admit, he did have nice legs. And while it was interesting, I was more interested in knowing why Zaqen had asked me to sit down and why he had been with me most every time I came to this restaurant. “Yes, I guess we should get to that, shouldn’t we,” he said. “I’m here today and I’ve been with you before because I am your teacher, your guardian. When you would visit... Sign in to see full entry.

Separation From the Divine is an Illusion That Creates Unnecessary Fear

Upon birth, for most of us, there is the illusion of separation from the Divine. We are babes, barely able to figure out that the wiggly things at the ends of our arms and legs belong to us, let alone that we are Divine. We are not initially aware of this feeling, but it is there, lying dormant. As we grow, ego becomes the driver in guiding our growth. At the same time, the feeling of separation tries to assert itself. Ego senses this, and sees that it may be able to use this feeling to its... Sign in to see full entry.

As One is, so is One's "God"

As one is, so is one’s “God”. This statement may sound blasphemous. It may sound as if Man is creating “God” is his own image. But it is neither. It is simply a truth. The Divine just is. It has always been, and will always be, a loving, creative intelligence. But how we see the Divine changes constantly, based on who we are and what we believe. As an example, if I am an aggressive man and a man driven by power, then my “God” will reflect these traits. If I am a loving person, full of humility... Sign in to see full entry.

I've Finally Merged With the Loving Divine

Walking one morning I suddenly awaken. A joy springs forth in the steps I’ve taken. Colors seem to call out my name. Sounds break forth, no longer tame. I am seized in what must surely be Pure bliss found only in ecstasy. Tingling appears in all my limbs, As accepted reality slowly dims. Mountains and valleys begin to speak, Babbling brooks are now chatty creeks. Everything that’s happening is by design - I’ve finally merged with the loving Divine. Sign in to see full entry.

Is Quantum Physics Beginning to Describe Divine Consciousness?

I’ve posted before about some of my mystical experiences. The one that stands out of course, is the one where I become fully awake for a few short hours, and experienced a fusing of my consciousness with Divine consciousness. For that six-to-eight hour period, I understood the universe and my place in it. Beyond the enhancement of my senses during this period, where colors were much more vibrant and sounds much more intense, there was an amazing connection between me and everything else. Though... Manipulating Reality: Any 'ol Evolved Soul Can do it

Another installment of Thursdays With Death: The elderly man in black looked directly at me and smiled. “I see you are done with your breakfast, but I was wondering if you would mind joining me for a bit?” he asked politely. “Well thanks,” I said. “I’d love to.” I grabbed my helmet and jacket, dropped some money on the table and moved over to his table. I was fascinated with this gentleman and how he ended up in this little out-of-the-way restaurant in eastern Arizona. “Lanny Stone,” I said,... Sign in to see full entry.

I Stare at the Beauty of the Desert, and Wonder if it is Real

I sit and stare at the beauty of the desert, golden needles wet with dew, red rock shimmering in the early morning sun, and wonder if it is real. I look into the sky and see the billowing legions of white, thick and inviting yet with a fuzzy, bluish edge, and think that it is not real. I nuzzle the neck of Maya, whose beauty matches the desert and who has come to help me see, and know that it is not real. Sign in to see full entry.

Accept That We Have No Control and Disharmony and Struggle Disappear

Change. It’s impossible for some of us, aggravating for most of us, and welcome for a few of us. In Buddhism, change is a form of duhkha. Duhkha can be defined as disharmony. The word in Sanskrit means “wheel out of kilter”. If we are riding in a cart with a wheel out of kilter, then the ride is uncomfortable on occasion. But, it is also comfortable on occasion. There is disharmony and harmony occurring as we ride in the cart. This is the same for change. The disharmony that is felt as a result... Sign in to see full entry.

One Without Compassion is One Absorbed in Self

When I first came across the last quote I posted yesterday (He who feels no compassion will become insane), I initially thought it a rather harsh statement. But in thinking about it, I’ve decided that it is true. If you look up the meaning of the word insane, you find that it means “unsoundness of mind” or “mental illness or derangement”. Unsound means “not in good condition” or “decayed”. Derangement, in turn, means “mental unsoundness”. So to say that one who is not compassionate is saying... Sign in to see full entry.

He Who Feels No Compassion Will Become Insane

The whole purpose of religion is to facilitate love and compassion, patience, tolerance, humility, forgiveness. --H.H. the Dalai Lama A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our... Sign in to see full entry.
