Fortunate is One Who Exists Before Coming Into Being

The Master said, “Fortunate is one who exists before coming into being. For one who exists has been and will be.” (64, 9-12) The above statement is from the Gospel of Philip. The Gospel of Philip is thought to be a collection of excerpts from a Christian Gnostic catechesis. Some of the text are examples of Valentinian thought (Valentinus, the great Christian Gnostic who Tertullian tells us nearly became bishop of Rome ), and all have a Gnostic flavor.
