Are You Selfconscious?

The reading at Todays Gift seems to be saying that self consciousness is a reverse style of snobbery. If we take the focus off ourselves and place it on the 'other' our self consciousness will slip away. Does that sound right? R U Selfconscious? I used to be absolutely. These days I am getting older... Sign in to see full entry.

Is your home restful?

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole... nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it.... It was a hobbithole, and that means comfort. --J. R. R. Tolkien In Today's Gift the writer talks about home as the place the is our bastion of refuge at the end of the... Sign in to see full entry.

What Are You Most Afraid Of?

The Daily Gift describes fear as the absence of faith! Never thought of that that way either. I think I thought fear was fear. However I can understand that if I have faith in a higher power than I can't have fear. I am getting better. I now just have a what ever will happen will happen attitude.... Are You Here Now?

"Each today, well-lived, makes yesterday a dream of happiness and each tomorrow a vision of hope. Look, therefore, to this one day, for it and it alone is life." -- Sanskrit poem I had never thought about this one either. People who have the ability to be really creative are so because they are... Sign in to see full entry.

How Do You Look At Depression?

In Today's Gift the writer suggests that we think about Depression as Depletion Rather than thinking "I am depressed" which sounds awefully clinical. Think "I am depleted." Once this change of thought has ocurred the next emotional step is to think "How can I fill myself up again?" Interesting view.... Sign in to see full entry.

Sharing Your Pain ....Do You?

In Today's Gift the writer talks about sharing pain. Some of us feel we can. Some of us feel we can't and others would love to if they could only trust. If you read my work you will see that I facilitate sharing groups and so sharing is quite easy for me. But how about you? How do you go with... Sign in to see full entry.

I thought the desire to be needed was wrong?

The reading in Today's Gift says that the desire to be needed is a basic human urge. They are the oppotunities given to us as a gift so that we can connect to others. So it is a two way street when we realise others need us and we learn through that what our needs are - both are better off. Had you... Sign in to see full entry.

Generosity

"It takes generosity to discover the whole through others. Muddy Waters Let Stand

I have never heard of the saying cited at Today's Gift before. "Muddy waters, let stand, becomes clear." --Lao-tzu The example used is when a person lost a ring and dove into the water searching for it so often that the water became muddy and the diver couldn't see. How often do we do that? Trying... Sign in to see full entry.

Are you patient?

Here is a curly question. Are you patient. One thing I can say about myself is that I am extremely patient. With tiny kids, with Comic Books that won't just sit right, with the elderly. I don't experience road rage or can't get too stressed waiting in cues. How ever some people find this stuff very,... Sign in to see full entry.
