Obama Wins the race...!

So Obama remains our President! I am one who voted for him, not because I think that he's made such a dramatic change in our country, but because I don't think anyone could have done any better. I feel that the first four years of the presidency is "fixing" things from the previous president, and what I mean by fixing is putting in place the goals and campaign promises. Four years just isn't enough time to make big changes in a whole country. I think we'll start to actually see more of the... Sign in to see full entry.

Just how many kids are Too Many?

Although over-population has become one of the world's biggest problems, I ask myself if that makes the world's problem my own. In most cases where there is over-crowding or problems with over-population, the media and government make it news because majority of the families aren't caring for the offspring they produce. This leaves the job to the government or use of tax-payer dollars to raise the children, and to take care of the disabled and seniors that aren't fortunate enough to have their... Is the American Dream only American?

The following does not reflect on my own religious belief or background, but strictly acknowledgement of things that seem to work. I suppose everyone has their own idea of the "American Dream"; and with the teetering economy, up and down oil prices, unemployment still rising, and questions on clean energy, the average man or woman may care less about a dream or what it means. I mean the upcoming presidential election should settle things down and get us back on track... Right? Well maybe this... Sign in to see full entry.

Saying Goodbye

I guess this post was inspired by my post "Lesson Learned" that I put up yesterday. It seemed to bring nostalgic feelings for some of the people who read it and it opened a conversation between my husband and I about saying good-bye to loved ones who have passed on. I was, fortunate or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it, enough to have been able to care for both my mom, who passed in '03, and my grand-mother, who passed in '07, up until the moment they took their last breath. In many... Sign in to see full entry.

Traditional family values (Are they worth the trouble?)

As you read the following, keep in mind that this is the opinion of one man; yet much of the topic is based on psychological, social, and religious reality. The modern family is in many ways different from the historical family. In comparison there are many differences--in which some additions to its evolution cause a weaker foundation and stronger main frame, while others cause a stronger foundation and weaker main frame. In past times, and in many cultures (even leading up to the modern era),... Sign in to see full entry.

2012: the last days?

Are we really living in our final days? Many religious sects and historians believe or give credibility to the old age theory that the end of the world is near. As a past believer myself, I remember the feelings I once had about the unspecified event: thoughts about my survival and who would survive, how to begin restoration in the aftermath, or if there'll be any restoration or regrowth? So if we play with the idea that there really is a chance that life--as we know it--could end, how do we... Sign in to see full entry.

How much is "A little elbow grease" Worth?

Our education for occupational or career purposes most often have a high price. Almost as often, those that have paid that price--with much time, much money, or both--have found it to be quite difficult to find work in their field of expertise. I often ask myself, when I hear of these things, if the time and money was worth it. A question that crosses my mind much more is that of mind versus might. Did I lose you? Well what I mean is I've worked on a few job sites that called for back-breaking,... Sign in to see full entry.

Nature over Nurture (or both, or neither)

Can you take the pain of youth away from one who grows up to be a killer? Can you take the fear and distrust away from a woman who grew up in an abusive household? In psychology there's a theory of mental growth which they refer to as "nature over nurture". The questions I asked in the beginning are questions that would've been asked when it is too late to help the individual: their nurturer and/or environment destroyed many of their chances in life. In my own opinion, nature is the culprit... Sign in to see full entry.

What do you think...?

Hey everyone...I was thinking about posting my feeble attempt at writing a short story. It's about a single mom trying to make ends meet when she accidently runs into a "work from home" ad on her computer. This story is erotic in nature but it's also believable. A mom will do anything to support her kids. It's called "making money" So, what I'd like to know is, would people be interested in reading and commenting on a book? I want to know how it goes over with the general public and if it's... Sign in to see full entry.

A book for writers

Writing also includes alot of reading (especially books on what you do). I read a few books like this--along with novels and other literature--in my learning phase. And learning never ceases, for me. http://www.amazon.com/Keys-Great-Writing-Stephen-Wilbers/dp/1582974926/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1351268818&sr=8-9&keywords=books+on+writing Sign in to see full entry.
