Western Washington has had a rash of children being killed or their lives altered forever by selfish parents this year. The most obvious being the Josh Powell case where he deliberately killed his boys and himself though I don't totally believe he meant to kill himself. One little girl was severely maimed by a schoolmate who brought his mom's gun to school. Two other little children were killed by loaded guns left in unattended cars with the children in them.
