Born Ready!
Happy New Year! It is going to be a good year. It is looking more and more like Piggens aunt joyce will be given custody. It has been a long struggle and there will be big relief when all is finalized. From experience I know how hard it is to raise a child and to try to do the right thing always but to do it with both hands tied behind your back has been extremely hard. We're back
Just a note and to say I sorry I haven't posted the progress with Piggens. First of all, He is still with his Auntie or I could say us though I don't live with them. It is so wonderful and I think he is an amazing boy to be so optimistic after all he has and is going through. I know he has had his anger bouts and becomes someone else entirely but those moments are subsiding and are shorter and less dramatic all the time. A miracle, maybe?
The courts finally are allowing Piggens his medication as advised by several health care professionals and you know what? It seemed to take effect on day one. It is adderall and Auntie Joyce told him it is for helping him concentrate but that first day he said he felt calm which is a blessing after the struggles Joyce has had with him and his own struggles. haircuts and a boys life
Sorry its been so long for an update. The good news is that we still have Piggens but its still an up and down emotional wait for this to be decided. It is hard to say what the toll is on Piggens because he knows something is up. With all the questioning last month how could he not. That has subsided but things are just wacky- the poor boy had'nt had a haircut in a year because his dad said he couldn't. The guardian ad lidem
Things haven't been moving much meaning we still have Piggens. Joyce talked to his guardian ad lidem and she appeared to be taken back by what had transpired, especially when she heard the cousin had talked to Piggens alone. The DSHS seems to be wanting to be rid of Piggens to the state of Texas so they would never have to deal with Piggens dad Charlie again. In from Texas
Joyce and Piggens met the cousin from Texas and it looks like money will be the deciding factor over love. The woman is a grandmother of eight and has a seven year-old foster boy. She came in dressed to the nines in highheels to show her status. I wasn't there and I only know what Joyce told me. Kids say the darndest things
Life with Piggens seems to be on hold. One night Joyce and hime were lying in bed and Joyce asked if he would want to go to Texas and he said yes and said it would be fun if he and Joyce and Stanley went down there. She said it would just be him and he would live there. He imeddiately sat up and yelled "No". bad news
This might be the end of the line. We have been informed the cousin in Texas has a foster parent license and thus is "more qualified " and will be taking Piggens. We are at a lost and do not know what to do or who to look for help. The boy is so happy now and would be broken to be sent somewhere else. His dad is pushing this and he can't leave the state because of law issues so he is hurting his own son just out of spite for Joyce. Sign in to see full entry.
